1.  Michael Jordan: Widely considered the greatest basketball player of all time, Michael Jordan was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1963. He played college basketball at the University of North Carolina, where he won a national championship in 1982. He went straight from high school to the NBA, where he has won four championships (with the Miami Heat and Cleveland Cavaliers) and been named NBA MVP four times. He has also won two Olympic gold medals.

3. Kobe Bryant: Born in Philadelphia in 1978, Kobe Bryant was drafted straight out of high school by the Charlotte Hornets in 1996.
