1.  Michael Jordan: Widely considered the greatest basketball player of all time, Michael Jordan was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1963. He played college basketball at the University of North Carolina, where he won a national championship in 1982. He went on to have a legendary NBA career, winning six championships with the Chicago Bulls and earning five NBA MVP awards. He was also a 14-time NBA All-Star and a two-time Olympic gold medalist.

2.  LeBron James: Born in Akron, Ohio in 1984, LeBron James was one of the most hyped high school basketball players of all time. He went straight from high school to the NBA, where he has won four championships (with the Miami Heat and Cleveland Cavaliers) and been named NBA MVP four times. He has also won two Olympic gold medals.

3. Kobe Bryant: Born in Philadelphia in 1978, Kobe Bryant was drafted straight out of high school by the Charlotte Hornets in 1996.
